Nipple and Areola Surgery Risks (a partial list):

  • Loss of nipple sensation (usually temporary)
  • Infection
  • Hematoma (collection of blood under the tissue)
  • Seroma (collection of fluids under the tissue)
  • Asymmetry
  • Tissue Necrosis (death of skin, or fatty tissue)
    • Extremely uncommon
    • Smoking or poor circulation will increase this risk
