The following represent the most common types of nipple and areola correction procedures performed by Dr. Stoker:

Nipple Reduction Surgery

Reducing Nipple Length and Over-projection

Problem:The nipples may be longer than normal; this may cause the nipples to sag or to stick out rather prominently. This condition occurs frequently following breast feeding, but may also occur because of genetic predisposition.

Solution:Dr. Stoker will help the patient choose the optimal procedure based on their particular anatomy.

    • In the case of long nipples, the tip of the nipple may be removed and the nipple base tucked in a way that incision is difficult to detect.
    • Another option is removing an outer ring from the nipple base. The inner ring is then pushed back into the breast and sutured in place.

Reducing Nipple Width

Problem:  Nipples that are too large in diameter.
Solution:  Overly wide nipplesmay be reduced by removing a section with a width reduction procedure.  The incisions tend to heal in a very discreet way.

Inverted Nipple Correction Surgery
When the nipples are inverted to any extent, they can be corrected with a simple procedure.

Areola Reduction Surgery
This procedure can correct areolas that are puffy or have a large diameter.

Nipple and Areola Correction: What is the Recovery Like?
Generally speaking, nipple and areola correction surgeries have a rapid recovery time. Some of Dr. Stoker’s patients return to work on the same day as the procedure, while others wait two or three days. The incision should be fully healed within a month.  Strenuous activity should be avoided during this healing period.
